Gyroscopic Flop
Single-handed string tricks. One yoyo, usually one that does NOT come back on a tug. You land it on strings and move it through different shapes. This is the biggest modern style.
How to do it
- Get into a mount where the yoyo is held between two strings.
- Push gently on one side or twist the strings.
- The yoyo will slowly turn its axle in the air.
- Stop before it tilts too much.
- Exit.
Tips
Tiny push only. If you force it, the yoyo tilts and dies.
The physics
A spinning yoyo is like a gyroscope — it doesn't want to change direction. If you push it sideways, it turns in a weird sideways way instead of where you pushed.
