Hook
Single-handed string tricks. One yoyo, usually one that does NOT come back on a tug. You land it on strings and move it through different shapes. This is the biggest modern style.
How to do it
- Throw a breakaway.
- While the yoyo is swinging, make a slack loop with your throw hand.
- Send the loop around your other finger and into the yoyo's gap.
- Catch the yoyo on the new string.
- Stabilize.
Tips
Hook is all about loop SHAPE. The slack should travel around your finger and the yoyo in one smooth circle.
The physics
The loop is a wave moving through the string. The yoyo gets caught when the loop swings through at just the right moment.
